IV sedation uses anti-anxiety medication that is administered straight into your vein. The medication can help you have a more positive dental experience. Although you aren't really asleep during the procedure, the comfort and temporary memory loss could make you feel as though you have been asleep. How Does IV Sedation Dentistry Work?
To receive intravenous sedation, a small needle will be placed inside your vein and the medication will be administered. You will begin to notice the effects within a few seconds and should start to feel even more relaxed. Dr. Aggarwal or Dr. Perez will begin to carry out the dental treatment while tracking your IV levels at the same time. While you will remain awake during IV sedation, you may not have any memory of the treatment taking place. After the procedure is complete, the IV will be taken out so you can start to feel alert again.
